إذا أردت أن تنجح ، فيجب أن تساير عصرك

Things are beginning to go much better for us

لقد بدأت الأمور تتحسن لصالحنا

Don’t put me in your black books

لا تسيء الظن بي

Didn’t you think it was rather out of place to say that ?

ألا تعتقد أنه ليس من المناسب أن تقول ذلك ؟

There is no occasion for you to lose your temper

ليس هناك سبب يدعوك للغضب

I’ll save you the trouble

سأوفر عليك المتاعب

Beyond human comprehension

فوق إدراك البشر

That boy needs keeping under

هذا الولد يحتاج إلى تأديب

His speech held his audience spellbound

كان لحديثه وقع السحر على مستمعيه

His father was wearing a troubled look

كانت تبدو على وجه أبيه علامات الضيق

I have a nodding acquaintance with him

أنني أعرفه معرفة سطحية

He gained his ends by art

حقق أهدافه بالمكر والحيلة

This is a matter of course

هذا الأمر لاغرابة فيه

He is in instant need of help

هو في حاجة ماسة للمساعدة

He got himself into serious trouble.

أوقع نفسه في متاعب خطيرة

He always in want of money

هو دائماً في حاجة للمال

That’s a lame excuse

هذا عذر غير مقبول

I’m much annoyed at his behaviors

إنني مستاء كثيراً من تصرفاته

We must make allowance for his youth

يجب أن نراعي صغر سنه

I don’t want to see him again for a very long time

لا أريد أن أرى وجهه مرة أخرى

What you say to him will fall on deaf ears

كل ما تقول له سوف يتجاهله

He never counts the cost of his actions

لا يعمل حساب لنتائج أعماله.

This will bring about much trouble

سيؤدي هذا إلى متاعب كثيرة

What ails him ?

ماذا أصابه ؟

All agog to know what happened

الجميع في غاية اللهفة لمعرفة ما حدث

After all his efforts , he has failed

فشل رغم كل جهوده

A blot from the blue

أمر غير متوقع

I was wrong about him

لقد خاب ظني فيه

He seems to have a aberration of mind

يبدو أنه متشتت التفكير

What reasons have you for thinking so ?

ماهي الأسباب التي حملتك على هذا الاعتقاد ؟

I do want you to know how sorry I am

أود أن تعلم أسفي البالغ

Let this be an example to you

ليكن هذا عبرة لك

There is nothing to be afraid of

ليس هناك ما نخشاه

The ins and out

من مختلف الجوانب

We can but try

ليس أمامنا إلا التجربة

He is an awkward customer

انه شخص يصعب التعامل معه

I can’t but admire your courage
